Chem 112-Lab Day 2 (for period 4) Period 5--> we will do today's lab on monday and monday's lab on tuesday as we will be participating in the Terry fox walk during period 5.
Sept24-Thursday-MEET THE TEACHER tonight
Chem 122-Today you will watch part of a video on energy and enthalpy(we may do this on friday instead...20 minutes). You will receive an outline topic sheet for the test coming on monday. It is like the study guide at the end of the chapter.We will review exothermic and endothermic reactions too. If time permits we will do the small scale lab on burning a candle and figuring out the heat of combustion. You will collect evidence and do an analysis for your data. this will be passed in tomorrow if you do not complete it today.

Chem 122-Today you will complete the work from the blue booklets. We will also go over another energy calculation that is like a calorimeter calculation and a calculation where energy from a reaction is used find out energy produced for a certain amount of a substance. I will assign 23a and b.
Chem 121-You are being given half the class for final project preparation. The other part of the class will be used for more practise with topics from Chem 11 like stoichiometry, gases, the mole, reactions and particles from p 502 #98, 99, 101, 104, 106
Chem 112-Test on Unit One- A handout was given last friday with the study topics for this test. I assigned p 193 #3-10 . Did you bring in your signed information form?
Tuesday Sept 22-Tuesday
Chem 122-More work with calorimeter calculations and reaction calculations where a reaction is providing energy for heating water in a hot water tank. I assigned 27 to 33 on p 526 and p 531. I also went over an example from the handout...#19(ans. -3.35 GJ) and gave you time to do #21(ans - 44.4 kg) in class. We did a guided reading activity that covered 17.4. this was passed in for marking. Test next monday on Ch 17 and energy calculations.
Chem 121-Project time for 1/2 of the class
Chem 112-You will do a pre lab for half of the class and we will tie up some loose ends for tomorrow's test on the first unit. You will also sign your lab contract(this will be done tomorrow...signing lab contract) P 4-Miss Logue went over your quizzes with you and Period 5, Miss logue went over the crisscross approach.

Chem 122-We will check some work from friday with using energies of formation and the energy of formation table(#11 and 12). We will complete our group work with Hess' Law and if time permits we will do some calculations involving the calorimeter. Did you bring in your information form?
